A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
